The shirt off my back: Why I own the J Crew Light Weight Slim Fit Shirt

What do you wear on those extremely hot summer days when you still need to look pulled together?

I wear the Light Weight shirt from J Crew because it  is the lightest weight and  best fitting shirt I have found for the money.

I wear it as a dress shirt with a tie or I roll up the sleeves and wear it untucked  with shorts.  In either case, I don’t wear a t-shirt under it because it’s almost weightless and feels  like a cool breeze against the skin.

I bought 7 of them last summer, in a mix of solids, checks and plaids .

It’s that addictive.

As the season progresses, they will make more colors, so keep checking back for a greater selection and a few markdowns.

The Light Weight shirt is available in regular, tall and slim fit, XS-XL. $69.50

A Fedora for the new hat explorer

With all the Royal wedding coverage and all the Phillip Treacy women’s hats you’ve been seeing everywhere, it’s easy to be left out as a guy. No longer. Leave those  baseball hats and those trucker hats  in the back of your closet and try on a straw fedora.

The best ones have a narrower brim than those of yore.  I’m partial to the Rag and Bone versions, but you can find them at every price, from Target on up.

Throw one on with a pair of jeans, a cardigan over a t-shirt and you’ll be oh so cool this summer!

Above, Banana Republic fedora, $45. Rag and Bone,$125 and $150, both @ Barneys New York and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Gentlemen, meet your new suit: The double-breasted six button peak lapel suit

Remember how dashing Tom Hanks, Jake Gyllehnaal and Hugh Jackman looked in their double-breasted peak lapel tuxedos at this year’s Academy Awards?

No, this is not your uncle’s double breasted suit from the 8o’s so popular still with doctors at benefit galas. Tight at the shoulders with  minimal padding, a high armhole and cutthisclose through the body and shorter than you might initially feel comfortable with.

Here is exactly how to wear the look a little more casually and for a lot less money. The Ludlow suit, in charcoal or navy, is available exclusively online at Jacket, $450
